The Client Profile & Background:

The Client is a German, family-owned, international manufacturer of agricultural machinery (for soil cultivation, sowing and plant protection) with more than 200 years history and revenue of EUR 300 Mill.

With around 1,000 staff the Client manufactures and distributes globally. The Client’s international footprint includes manufacturing sites and distribution companies in almost 40 countries. In order to strengthen the market position in China, the Client is building up a new assembly/ manufacturing site in Qingdao, China.

Further plant management, fulfilling the following responsibilities and requirements:

Position:

l  Factory General Manager, located in Qingdao, China

Job Profile:

General responsibilities of the position:

l  Responsibility for building up and operating the assembly plant in the Qingdao area

l  Source and manage local suppliers , purchasing of locally sourced components  and assembly material, e.g. tires, hydraulic parts, hoses, fasteners

l  Building up a team of local employees for Assembly, Accounting & Finance, HR
and Controlling of initially >30 staff

l  Professional and disciplinary management of the employees, setting goals, assessing the performance and providing continuous professional training

l  Contact with representatives of the regional authorities and local government

l  Responsible for production efficiency, safety and product quality

l  Support cost budget and capital expenditure planning

l  Close communication with overseas headquarters, reporting to the COO

l  3-6 months initial training at the German HQ

Requirements:

l  University degree in Mechanical Engineering

l  Strong Management skills

l  European talent with proven track record in building up and managing assembly or production plants in China for international companies

l  English: fluent written and spoken, intermediate level in Chinese, German a plus

l  Industry background in assembly of agricultural or construction machinery preferred,
alternatively in machinery

l  Hands-on attitude, understanding of production process including welding, drilling,
assembly and paint shop

l  High self-motivation and initiative, excellent communication and presentation skills

l  Good persuader, strong motivator

The talent we are looking for has a long term commitment to the plant in Qingdao and will after the completion of the set up and installation phase stay in the role and manage the operation.

Reporting, Subordinates and Other Relationships:

l  Reporting to the COO at Germany

l  +30 staff in the first year
